A community activist through and through, Hon Mathye rose to prominence and became a part of numerous community structures, which have evolved with the local government institution. From being a Coordinator of Community Projects, she was catapulted to a Member of the Mayoral Committee of the Mopani District Municipality, for a period of 10 years. She joined the ANC in 1990, and served its structures in various capacities, and she is at the moment a member of the ANC’s Provincial Executive Committee.
Mr. Stephen Matjena is a vibrant young and experienced government senior official who grew up within the ranks of Limpopo Provincial Government since 2005. Matjena is an Information Technology guru from University of Limpopo. He completed his BSc in Computer Science in 2001 and went further to obtain Honours Degree in Computer Sciences in the year 2002 majoring with Artificial Intelligence Software Development Computer Security.
PROGRAMMES
ADMINISTRATION
Purpose: To provide the Department with the overall management and administrative, strategic, financial, and corporate support services in order to ensure that it delivers on its mandate in an integrated, efficient, effective and sustainable manner.
TRANSPORT REGULATION
Purpose: To ensure the provision of a safe transport environment through the regulation of traffic on public infrastructure, law enforcement, implementation of road safety education and awareness programmes and the registration and licensing of vehicles and drivers.
TRANSPORT OPERATIONS
Purpose: To plan, regulate and facilitate the provision of integrated transport services through co-ordination and co-operation with national planning authorities, CBO's, NGO's and the private sector to enhance the mobility of all communities particularly those currently without or with limited access.
PROVINCIAL SECRETARIAT POLICE SERVICES
Purpose: Monitor police conduct, oversee effectiveness and efficiency of the police service delivery, assess the effectiveness of visible policing. Improve relations between the police and the community and liaise with the Member of the Executive Council responsible for policing on matters of crime and policing in the Province.
