HEAD OF LIMPOPO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT AND COMMUNITY SAFETY ENGAGES MOTORISTS DURING FESTIVE SEASON ROAD‑SAFETY LAUNCH

The Head of the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, Mr Stephen Matjena, took to the roads this week to speak directly with motorists as part of the province’s Festive Season Road‑Safety Campaign launch. Dressed in high‑visibility safety gear, he stopped drivers at a roadblock to share key safety messages – obey speed limits, wear seatbelts, never drink and drive, keep vehicles road‑worthy and practice patience.

Mr Matjena warned that the festive season traditionally sees a spike in traffic volume and road incidents, making proactive education essential. “Road safety is a shared responsibility. We call on all motorists to make smart decisions, respect the rules of the road, and arrive alive this festive season,” he said.

The Department will maintain intensified law‑enforcement, road‑safety activations and community‑awareness programmes throughout the holidays. Motorists are urged to cooperate with officials and help create safer roads for everyone.
