Polokwane – The Department of Transport and Community Safety, alongside Limpopo’s provincial departments, has embarked on a rigorous annual inspection of government-owned and subsidized vehicles for the 2025/2026 financial year. This exercise, mandated by law, aims to enforce compliance, curb the misuse of government vehicles, and ensure the provincial asset register is up-to-date.
Inspectors meticulously scrutinize each vehicle, checking license disc expiry dates, odometer readings, and assessing roadworthiness against government km limits.
The evaluation which is taking place from the 23 – 27 March, at Seshego Government Garage includes exterior body conditions, interior upholstery, engine compartment, and accessories like jacks and spare wheels. Log books are verified against odometer readings and trip authority forms. Vehicles in poor condition are detained, while those requiring repairs are redirected to the garage.
This thorough process ensures accountability and optimizes the fleet’s performance, paving the way for a safer, more efficient journey ahead.
