{"id":2078,"date":"2025-06-03T09:55:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T07:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ldtcs.gov.za\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2078"},"modified":"2025-06-03T09:55:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T07:55:11","slug":"waterberg-road-safety-debate-competition-spotlights-youth-voices","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.ldtcs.gov.za\/?news=waterberg-road-safety-debate-competition-spotlights-youth-voices","title":{"rendered":"WATERBERG ROAD SAFETY DEBATE COMPETITION SPOTLIGHTS YOUTH VOICES"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\"><p>WATERBERG ROAD SAFETY DEBATE COMPETITION SPOTLIGHTS YOUTH VOICES<\/p>\n<p>#RoadSafety |Young minds from across Waterberg District came together on Saturday, 31 May 2025, to engage in a dynamic and thought-provoking debate on road safety \u2013 a persistent challenge in South Africa\u2019s transport landscape. <\/p>\n<p>The Waterberg District Road Safety Debate Competition was hosted by the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, in partnership with the Limpopo Department of Education<\/p>\n<p>The event created a platform for learners to grapple with real-world issues and propose youth-driven solutions to road safety concerns, while also encouraging them to explore careers in the transport and safety sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Participating schools included Itireleng Secondary School, Thekganang Technical School, Ho\u00ebrskool Groenvlei, Northern Comprehensive School, Naletsana Combined School, Mabogopedi Secondary School, Friekie Meyer Secondary School and Roosevelt Academy. The debate focused on the motion: \u201cThe ban of alcohol sales will reduce road crashes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emerging as the top three debaters were Mafa Marara and Miracle Mkhabela, both from Groenvlei Secondary School, and Bonolo Mashile from Roosevelt Academy.
