GAUTENG-LIMPOPO HIGH SPEED RAIL CORRIDOR WORKSHOP: SHAPING THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION

Bela-Bela: Today, on 4 June 2025, key stakeholders and government representatives gathered at Forever Resorts Aventura in Bela-Bela for the Gauteng-Limpopo High Speed Rail Corridor workshop.

The event brought together esteemed representatives from the national Department of Transport, Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA), Transnet, Limpopo Office of the Premier, Gauteng Office of the Premier, Gauteng Department of Transport, Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, Transnet Rail Infrastructure Management, and local government.

Key objectives of the workshop included exploring the feasibility and potential benefits of a high-speed rail link between Gauteng and Limpopo, two of South Africa’s most economically vibrant provinces.

This proposed rail corridor promises to revolutionise transportation in the region, fostering economic integration, reducing travel times, and enhancing connectivity. Ultimately, success will depend on continued collaboration and dedication of all parties involved to drive economic development and transform the transportation landscape.
