YOUNG MINDS CLASH IN SAFETY DEBATE SHOWDOWN
CommunitySafety |The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety hosted a Community Safety Debate Competition today, 31 May 2025, at the Zai Oat Hotel in Makhuduthamaga Municipality, Sekhukhune District.
Teams from Tshehlwaneng, Bopedi Bapedi, Ngwanamatlang, and Ponti Secondary Schools faced off on provocative topics:
1. Economic desperation drives illegal immigrants to sell expired goods, and
2. Community policing effectively reduces weapons and drug-related crimes.
This initiative forms part of the department’s ongoing campaign to foster civic responsibility and critical thinking among learners. Through these debates, participants actively explore and address pressing community safety issues.
The event has proven successful in promoting awareness and stimulating learner-led dialogue on real-world challenges.
The top five debaters have been selected to represent Sekhukhune District at the Provincial Competition on 16 August 2025.
