MEC MATHYE LEADS A SUCCESSFUL GBVF IMBIZO

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Mme Susani Violet Mathye, together with Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe, led a rural safety imbizo today, 30 June 2025, at Karibu Leisure Resort in Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Mopani District.

The event brought together key stakeholders, including SAPS, community policing structures, government departments, non-governmental organizations, municipalities, and traditional leaders, to discuss proposals and strategies to reduce Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) incidents in the area and the province.

MEC Mathye, flanked by HoD Matjena and a delegation from SAPS and Mopani District Municipality, paid a courtesy visit to Hosi N’wamitwa II.

The Imbizo was attended by dignitaries, including Acting Mayor of Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality Cllr Shingange, Mopani House of Traditional Leaders Kgoshigadi Sekgopo, and Eyes Of The Nation Mr Kgopa.

In a heartwarming gesture, Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Tommy Mthombeni, who joined the event, donated laptops to two deserving learners from Tiakeni Secondary School in Joppie village.

The successful event left attendees enthusiastic about improving community-police relations, and the laptop donation was a welcome boost to the two learners’ educational journey.

The event was a resounding success, with attendees expressing gratitude and a renewed commitment to work together to build a safer community.
