OPERATION KUKULA TAKING THE FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS TO ANOTHER LEVEL FOLLOWING ARREST OF THREE SUSPECTS IN BELA-BELA

The South African Police Service in Bela-Bela made their presence felt during “Operation Kukula” on Sunday, 23 July 2023.Members of the Bela-Bela Crime Intelligence Unit and Modimolle Public Order Policing(POPS) arrested three suspects and seized various drugs worth thousands of rands.

Two suspects aged 34 and 39, both residing in Bela-Bela were found in possession of three hundred and thirty two (332) sachets of Nyaope and twenty nine (29) sachets of Crystal meth, all to the estimated street value of over R10 000,00. Police also confiscated cash amount of R3 300,00 believed to be the proceeds of drug sales.

The members further followed information about another suspect dealing in dagga at Spapark.The 38 year old suspect was found in possession of one hundred and thirty one(131) sachets of dagga to the estimated street value of R2 620,00) and cash amount of R1 040,00 believed to be the proceeds of drug sales.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the members on the successful arrests and confiscations. The drugs were destined for the streets as part of criminal activities however they acted promptly and prevented this from happening.

The three suspects will appear before the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court today, 24 July 2023, facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
