MEC MATHYE ATTENDS THE PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORT AND COMMUNITY SAFETY MEETING

The Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety convened a meeting with the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Gateway Airports Authority Limited (GAAL), and the South African Police Service (SAPS) today, 03.07.2025 at the parliamentary village in Polokwane.

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Susani Violet Mathye, led the delegation, which included the DTCS Head of Department Mr Stephen Matjena, CEO of GAAL Ms Mokgadi Matli and the SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe.

The following presentations were made:

– Department of Transport and Community Safety: 2024/2025 4th Quarter Report, 2025/2026 Annual Performance Plan, and Budget.
– GAAL: 2024/2025 4th Quarter Report, 2024/2025 Annual Performance Plan, and Budget report.
– SAPS: 2023/2024 3rd Quarter Crime statistics and 2023/2024 4th Quarter crime statistics.

The committee welcomed the presentations and made inputs, engaging on key areas of performance and plans presented.
