Mokopane – The Department of Transport and Community Safety (DTCS) has finalized its 2026/2027 Annual Performance Plan (APP) following a strategic planning session held yesterday, 19 February 2026 at the Mogalakwena Local Municipality Council Chambers in Mokopane, Waterberg District. The session aimed to consolidate efforts, address potential gaps, and align with the department’s vision for improved community safety and a safer, more efficient transport system.
Head of Department Stephen Matjena highlighted key focus areas, urging senior management to champion approved plans and strategies. He emphasized regular reviews to stay abreast of new developments, stating, “We can never afford to have strategies gathering dust somewhere when the very same problem that they were meant to address, persists.”
“The department’s commitment to excellence in service delivery must be punctuated, with a focus on translating plans into tangible outcomes,” concluded Matjena.
Representatives from various directorates presented plans, focusing on Departmental Quarter 3 Performance Overview, 2025/2026 Budget Performance, and 2026/2027 Budget Projections, including feedback on Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) assessment and strategic risks. The session laid groundwork for a robust APP, poised to drive impactful interventions in transport and safety areas.
