As part of Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba’s Service Delivery Week in Sekhukhune District, MEC for Transport and Community Safety Mme Violet Mathye conducted an oversight visit to the Mashung Access Bridge in Mashung Village, Ga-Nkwana/Apel Area, under Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality.
The visit forms part of the 7th Administration’s commitment to build better communities by taking government to the people and ensuring that projects deliver real change on the ground.
Now complete, the Mashung Access Bridge is more than just infrastructure — it is a lifeline. It ensures the safety of community members, especially our most vulnerable groups: school learners who no longer have to risk crossing a flooded river to get to school, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and motorists who can now travel with ease.
The bridge has restored dignity and convenience to everyday life, improving access from the main road into the heart of Mashung Village and allowing workers, learners and families to move safely, even when heavy rains swell the rivers.
It stands as quiet proof that a single bridge can shorten more than distance — it shortens hardship.
This oversight visit reaffirms that a government that builds, returns to check, and accounts, is a government that still carries its people forward.
