Monday, 09 October 2023, Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani Launched the October Transport Month (OTM) at Makhado Traffic Station, Vhembe District.
MEC Radzilani during her address appealed to motorists, to be considerate on the road, and be mindful that the road is a public commodity, that should be shared by all.
“our efforts to attain a state of zero fatalities, on our roads, will remain a pipe-dream, as long as we still solicit gratuities from road users, instead of enforcing compliance” she said.
MEC Radzilani concluded, by reiterating that, there is no amount of traffic officials that will change driver attitude and behaviour on our roads.
“Our roads will remain death traps waiting to happen, if motorists continue to ignore the fundamental and basic traffic rules, of checking their vehicles’ road worthiness, maintaining safer following distances and not exceeding the requisite speed limit . If we all do this, there will most certainly be reduced carnages”, said MEC
